Definition of the Product Goal

The Product Goal describes the desired future state of the product. It serves, among other things, as a guideline for the Scrum Team in planning their work.

The Product Goal is part of the Product Backlog. In other words, in Scrum, the Product Goal is also referred to as the commitment of the Product Backlog.

Additionally, the Product Goal serves as the long-term direction for the Scrum Team, where the team pursues (or abandons) one goal before taking on the next goal.
