Meaning of Transparency

In Scrum, Transparency means that everyone in the team is clear and open about the work and its progress. It is important for all team members to easily see what is happening. This includes things like:

  1. Clear objectives – Everyone knows the goal of the Product and the Sprint.
  2. Visible progress – The status of Product Backlog Items, issues and changes are visible to everyone in the team. For example, through the Scrum Board as well as events such as the Daily Scrum and Sprint Review.
  3. Honest Communication – Team members talk honestly about successes, problems and challenges. This is also reflected in the Scrum Values such as Openness and Courage.

A pillar of Scrum

Furthermore, Transparency is one of the three pillars of Scrum (alongside Inspection and Adaptation). It helps teams to work well together, solve problems quickly and ensure that everyone is on the same page. It is essential for trust and good collaboration in a Scrum Team.
